On September 11, 1992, Hurricane Iniki hit Kauai,
causing nearly $2 billion in damage. Among
businesses affected was a small screen print shop.
All of its unprinted white shirts were drenched with water and stained with ultra-iron-rich red dirt from the storm. Instead of being thrown out, the t-shirts were printed and sold to locals and visitors alike. Today the dyeing process has been refined to bring you a shirt with the soft feel of velvet and the look of fine cognac.
